Coming to theaters in Europe on November 24th, Ari Folman’s adaptation of Anne Frank’s Diary – titled “Where Is Anne Frank”. Folman (Waltz With Bashir) received a 15-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival premiere. Where Is Anne Frank is the first movie to be supported by The Anne Frank Fonds Basel, director Ari Folman has been granted privileged access to Anne Frank’s diary, various texts, and family archives. Here’s our first look:
“The story was never told,” he says. “We know she died, but we don’t know what happened during the last seven months. Anne Frank is more than a Jewish icon. And I think the success of her diary comes from the fact that there is no violence, no cruelty.”
Synopsis: In a year from today, Kitty, Anne Frank’s imaginary friend, the one that Anne devoted her entire diary to, magically comes to life at the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. She believes that if she’s alive, Anne must be alive as well. She sets out on a relentless quest to find Anne.
