Today, Friday, award winning animator J.J. Sedelmaier will screen rare cartoon advertisements from 1929 through present day that were animated in New York City. Classic ads include the Maypo campaign from Hubley studios, Tootsie Roll candy from Terrytoons and Crest Toothpaste from Jack Zanders. A panel discussion after the screening will include Joe Burrascano, Howard Beckerman, Emily Hubley and Doug Crane.

Jerry Beck will moderate a conversation with animation archivist Tommy Jose Stathes on animation preservation, a Cartoon Restoration Showcase, on Saturday July 30th at BAMcinématek.
A discussion of the film preservation process, the program includes exclusive new digital restorations of films from Max Fleischer and Bray Studios, dating from 1914 to 1927. Koko The Clown, Dinky Doodle, Bobby Bumps and Col. Heeza Liar are among the stars of silent cartoon comedy on display here. Don’t miss this on Saturday!

Yours truly Jerry Beck, author of Pink Panther: The Ultimate Guide to the Coolest Cat in Town, will also introduce a classic cartoon showcase featuring a selection of Pink Panther theatrical shorts spanning two decades of feline animation from Friz Freleng and Hawley Pratt.
The Pink Panther Collection will screen on Sunday, July 31st at 4:30pm. Featured cartoons include Dial “P” for Pink, Super Pink and a tribute to the Panther theme music, Pink, Plunk, Plink, which features a cameo by composer Henry Mancini.
