The 5th annual GLAS Animation Festival takes place March 19-22, 2020 in the historic city of Berkeley, California, just a quick ride away from San Francisco.
GLAS exhibits films from local and international artists and filmmakers across the animation spectrum, creating a community and space for industry veterans, historians, animation enthusiasts, and emerging talent from diverse backgrounds to come together, share, learn, and appreciate the animated art form in a critical context. We host retrospectives, special-curated programs, workshops, panel discussions, performances, and installations. We started GLAS to showcase the most exciting animation being made around the world and expand the scope of how animation is understood as an artistic medium in the United States.
We welcome narrative, non-narrative, undergraduate, graduate, commissioned, and feature films to submit to GLAS Animation Festival 2019.
Award categories include:
Grand Prix
New Talent
High Risk
Audience Award
+ Special Prizes

GLAS is also approaching the half-way point of their Kickstarter Campaign for the 5th edition of their Animation Festival. “We can’t express how touched we are to receive the outpouring of support from this wonderful animation community,” says GLAS co-founder Jeanette Bonds. “Thank you to all of those who have lent a hand so far, whether it be by making a contribution or helping to spread the word.”
They have 16 days left to raise $8500 for their campaign to be successfully funded, which means they still need your help! If you haven’t already, please take a moment to consider making a contribution to support GLAS 2020.
They are also announcing new reward tiers every day, including one-of-a-kind t-shirts, sculptures, illustrations, and animation frames, as well as indie games, GKIDS blu-rays, and official GLAS outerwear. Click the image below to help out!
