From Spanish director Pablo Berger, Oscar-nominated animated feature Robot Dreams has secured a theatrical release in the U.S. Coming to New York City on May 31st, the film can be seen at the Film Forum and AMC Lincoln Square.
Called “exquisite… one of the best animations in recent years” by The Observer and regarded as “one of the best films of the year” by The Film Stage, Robot Dreams is being released by indie distributor NEON. Writer and director Pablo Berger is a recognized Spanish director, known for the celebrated Spanish and French production of Blancanieves (2012).
“With Robot Dreams, I wanted to explore the infinite narrative possibilities of animation. A medium where everything is possible and there are no formal limits,” Berger noted about the film based on Sara Varon’s graphic novel.
SYNOPSIS
The film features Dog, who lives in Manhattan. He is tired of being alone, so he decides to build himself a robot companion one day. Their friendship grows until they are inseparable, thriving in the world of 80’s NYC. One summer night, Dog must sadly abandon Robot at the beach. Will they ever cross paths again?
