On November 17th in Burbank, CA, Nickelodeon and Mattel Television announced that the original animated series Monster High will return for a second season. In this new 20-episode season, the series will continue to follow the children of well-known monsters on even bigger comedic adventures. Last month, on October 28th, Nickelodeon released season one of Monster High in the United States. The series was also released in The United Kingdom and Canada, and is scheduled to debut in Australia later this month. Monster High will also become available on Paramont+ and Nickelodeon in more international territories next year.

Thus far, Monster High has performed very well, with its first season being met with high ratings. Out of all of Nickelodeon’s telecasts (on Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Nicktoons, and TeenNick), Monster High has been viewed by approximately 1 million kids ages 2-11, and 4 million people total worldwide.

Aside from the second season of Monster High, 8 episodes of a new YouTube series, Monster High Mysteries, premiered on the official Monster High YouTube channel on Friday, November 18th. The new story follows the lovable characters as they solve the mystery of a missing trophy. This YouTube series is 2D, and features the same voice talent as the Monster High series, and will offer fans even more of the lore and characters. The first four episodes of the series will premiere each week, and the rest will follow in 2023.
Monster High is centered around the children of famous monsters and creatures. The teenage monsters are Clawdeen Wolf, Draculaura, Frankie Stein, and Deuce Gorgon. The friends discover their identities, embrace each other’s differences, and learn to be fearless and bold in the place they all call home: Monster High. The second season will further explore each character’s background, as well as expand on its overall theme of friendship.
The stellar cast of voice talent includes Gabrielle Nevaeh Green as Clawdeen Wolf, Courtney Lin as Draculaura, Iris Menas as Frankie Stein, Tony Revolori as Deuce Gorgon, Kausar Mohammed as Cleo De Nile, Valeria Rodriguez as Lagoona Blue, Alexa Kahn as Torelei Stripe, Alexander Polinsky as Heath Burns, and Debra Wilson as Headmistress Bloodgood. All of the lead characters are returning for the second season.
Shea Fontana (Polly Pocket) is the co-executive producer and showrunner of Monster High, with Nick Filippi (Big Hero 6: The Series) serving as the supervising producer. Overseeing production for Nickelodeon is Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President of Big Kids Animation, and Nikki Price, Director of Franchise Animation. Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mattel Television, Fred Soulie, and Christopher Keenan, Senior Vice President of Creative, serve as Mattel’s executive producers.
Due to the success of the live-action musical,Monster High The Movie, a sequel has been green lit by Nickelodeon and Mattel Television. Production will begin next January in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the TV movie will air on Nickelodeon and stream on Paramont+ later in 2023.
Monster High was first introduced in 2010 by Mattel, and quickly became one of the most popular children’s properties ever. The series “seeks to foster a more accepting world where everyone is proud to be their authentic selves, which is more relevant now than ever before”. Today, Monster High returns with even more “fangtastical” characters, dolls, costumes, apparel, and accessories to encourage a new generation to embrace their individuality.
