You know the story. Paramount’s Sonic The Hedgehog is a hybrid live-action-animated adventure comedy based on the videogame franchise from Sega – the trailer of which that dropped last April was a disaster! The film was supposed to open this month but was delayed three months due to fan outrage at the uncanny off-model awfulness of the character design of the CG Sonic. They went back in and returned the character to the look he’s traditionally had in all other media for over 30 years. Kudos to director Jeff Fowler (former director at Blur Studios) for averting a potential fiasco – and now the film opens February 14th (a perfect Valentines gift to Sonic fans)… Here’s the new trailer:
Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, Sonic The Hedgehog tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
