Mickey & Friends Release First Single From Upcoming Album “A Whole New Sound”

“A Whole New Sound” is an upcoming album from Mickey & Friends that will feature covers of beloved Disney classics. Some iconic alternative, rock, and pop-punk bands have contributed their work to the project. In honor of The Lion King having its 30th anniversary, Disney released the first single from the album: Simple Plan’s rendition of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”

Simple Plan mentioned “we wanted to pay homage to Sir Elton John’s original version while also adding our own style to it and making it sound fun and energetic. We’re really stoked by how it turned out and we hope everyone will enjoy it.”

Mickey Mouse and his Friends have gathered with some of their favorite pop-punk and indie bands to reenvision some of the most popular songs from The Walt Disney Company. The entire album will be available on vinyl later in 2024. Since Mickey Mouse is a cultural icon, he is a long-time music fan and is well-versed in all kinds of styles. He has an extensive record collection that inspired him to get started on this new album.

The artwork for “A Whole New Sound” was also released, displaying Mickey & The Gang in a fun new style.

Mickey has an already established legacy in the world of music, making an impact with his debut in the first animated project with synchronized sound. His on-screen presence has often been alongside soundtracks that have gained immense popularity throughout various genres.

At this year’s D23 Event presented by Visa® , Simple Plan will perform their rendition of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”  as a part of the popular fan event.

“We grew up watching Disney movies with our families and now we get to enjoy them with our own kids, so it’s pretty amazing to have been invited to be on this album,” Simple Plan noted.
