“Messi and the Giants” Acquired By Disney To Stream On Disney Channel, Disney+

On December 16, 2024, in Burbank, California, Disney Branded Television made the fantastic acquisition of  Messi and the Giants from Sony Music Vison and Sony Pictures Television (Kids). With inspiration taken from football celebrity Lionel Messi, the new animated show follows Leo, an Argentine kid who is suddenly taken from his world and sent to a new one—an epic alternate universe that he’s destined to save. Messi and the Giants is set to debut on Disney Channel along with Disney Channel On Demand and Disney+.

From Lionel Messi himself, “I always dreamed of being involved in a project that would share the values of sports, the very same values that have been so important to my career, with younger generations. Nothing truly is impossible with teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and hard work.” Followed by, “I look forward to sharing this series with kids around the world, and I hope I will inspire them and motivate them to achieve their own dreams. Ever since I was a kid, I always loved animated series, and I look forward to watching this series with my own kids.” Each episode is 22 minutes of an action-adventure story with coming-of-age elements that audiences of all ages can appreciate.

Known for Odd Squad, and Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Guys Toubes brings his skillset as the animated show’s executive producer and oversees all writing. The animation is provided by Atlantis Animation, most praised for their work on Tara Duncan and Miraculous Ladybug Season 5, along with director Dan Creteur. Under Sony Music Vision and Sony Pictures Television’s creative direction, Messi and the Giants has been developed by Guys Toubes and Dan Createur and will offer English, Spanish, and more languages for viewers.
