The next big North American anime event comes around this December, with the arrival of Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution. Debuting exclusively in IMAX theatres for a limited one day theatrical run, the movie will only appear on just 100 screens nationwide. In addition, a new IMAX poster has been unveiled.

This upcoming film is brought to audiences by GKIDS with both Japanese audio and English dubbed versions available upon release. On December 3rd, an early screening fan event will be hosted ahead of the film’s theatrical release on December 5th, featuring Jujutsu Kaisen’s most climactic fights as of late, covering the Shibuya Incident as a special compilation. The first two episodes of the as-of-yet unreleased Season 3 will also be featured, ahead of its planned January 2026 streaming release.

In Japan, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution will premiere with the name “Jujutsu Kaisen: The Movie – Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening” this November 7th.

Produced by Toho animation and brought to life by MAPPA studio, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime is an adaptation of Gege Akutam’s hit manga that was first serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Its first episode aired in October 2020, and ever since, the anime has skyrocketed in popularity. The last season concluded in December 2023, earning the “Anime of the Year” award at Crunchyroll’s 2024 Anime Awards. Earlier this year, GKIDS brought Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie to theatres as well, raking in $3.25 million. At the time, the film was the latest release from the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise since the second season’s conclusion.

Synopsis

A trap lies in wait for the world’s strongest jujutsu sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, weaponizing the innocent people in Shibuya as hostages to try and seal him away. But Yuji Itadori and his classmates join in to stop the curse users and spirits attacking Shibuya, culminating in “the Shibuya Incident.” The aftermath has left ten colonies in Japan distorted with curse power to orchestrate the Culling Game, and force players inside to fight to the death. All the while, Yuji Itadori is slated for execution, and his fellow student under Gojo, Yuta Okkotsu, is assigned to carry out the deed.
