Amazon announced the launch date for Ronja the Robber’s Daughter. This is the new epic new series directed by Goro Miyazaki, animated by Polygon Pictures and co-produced by Studio Ghibli, based on Astrid Lindgren’s classic novel. It will start streaming on January 27th.
The English adaptation was produced by David Freedman in London with a mostly British cast – with top British talent including the legendary Adrian Edmonson (The Young Ones, Star Wars) Rufus Hound, Gillian Anderson and an odd cameo by Swampy Marsh of Phineas & Ferb. Take a look:
The story follows Ronja, a young girl whose father is the chief of a tribe of bandits. The live in a huge castle in the forest with the bandits. In this story Ronja encounters mystical creatures as she explores and experiences life in the forest. Somewhere along the lines she makes friends with another young child much like herself. The title is based on the fantasy story Ronia the Robber’s Daughter, written by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.
