Filmmaker Emily Hubley has announced her next project: The Faith Journal Project, a 3-part undertaking (short film, an installation and an application) related to the 7000+ self-portraits (in 49 journals) created by her mom, artist/filmmaker Faith Hubley, in the final decades of her life.
“This has long been in the works,” says Hubley. “and now we are committing full time to the completion of these elements, for the purpose of creating an in-depth and expansive portrait of Faith, and with the determination to re-kindle more widespread interest in her work.”
A brief overview:
Faithy, hey will be a short personal animated film focusing on specific memories and a relationship altered by death. Discoveries and dreams unfold, while woe arrives at acceptance. With music by Georgia Hubley
Face the Day will be a six-screen installation. The faces appear in chronological order, punctuated by hundreds of captions from associated entries, and pieces of art (still and animated) from the given time. The portraits will be scanned, cleaned and positioned; captions and art, selected and edited. These will all combine to present a multi-layered depiction of an artist sharing her wisdom, fears, joy and vision. With music by Georgia Hubley
Sundays with Faith, a playful app in which faces from 1000+ Sundays fly by, and can be paused to reveal the date they were made and a distinct fun/poignant caption from that day’s entry.
“The Faith Journal Project will take two years to produce. Our initial goal is to raise $35,000 to finish Faithy, hey in early 2019 and to scan all the journals for Face the Day. We will release the short, undertake a wider crowd-funding campaign and construct a website.”
Co-Producers, Emily Hubley and Linda Moroney hope you will consider donating at this early and critical juncture.
