Belief is measurable in this world, and “trust” grants powers, trusting that a hero can fly allows them the ability. A hero’s fans and believers literally ensure their strength, and a fall to anonymity would leave them powerless. Heroes are actively supported, watched, applauded to maintain their powers, and every 2 years the rankings are adjusted in a hero tournament, their powers fluctuating with their performance. The most powerful hero, with the public’s trust on their back, is lauded as hero “X”, a title that anyone could rise to take, if the world believed they could.
