Just days after the Sentenced to Be a Hero season finale, production for season 2 has been confirmed, with Crunchyroll acquiring streaming rights alongside the AnimeJapan 2026 announcement. A teaser visual and announcement trailer has been dropped for fans of the dark fantasy series.

Based on the web novel written by Rocket Shokai back in October 2020, the series has evolved from a light novel adaptation, to a manga adaptation, and now its latest form has become a popular anime series. Studio Kai will continue animation for the new season. More information will come out at later dates as production has only just been confirmed, but the hype surrounding the finale has only stoked the flames higher.

Synopsis

In the first season viewers got to know Xylo Forbartz, the former knight now accused goddess killer, who is sentenced to fight battles as a hero in Penal Hero Unit 9004. As Xylo is forced to participate in the endless cycle, they fight against abominations time and time again. However, a new goddess unexpectedly joins the fight and teams up with Xylo, and the system which binds them is now challenged by their alliance.
