CBS Studios Releases Official Trailer and Key Art For “Star Trek: Prodigy”

Today, CBS Studios released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming season of their original series, STAR TREK: PRODIGY. On Monday, July 1st, the successful project will premiere 20 episodes on Netflix in select countries worldwide. The streaming platform currently offers the entirety of the first season.

Created by Emmy® Award winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (“Trollhunters” and “Ninjago”) alongside Alex Kurtzman the Secret Hideout team, this CG-animated show is the first project from the “Star Trek” universe to be targeted at younger audiences. The series follows a group of young aliens who must learn to work as a team while moving through the galaxy in search of a brighter future. The crew are assigned a new mission on the USS Voyager-A to rescue Captain Chakotay (Robert Beltran) and bring peace to the homeworld of Gwyn (Ella Purnell). But when things turn for the worse, a conflict arises that threatens both the past and the future.

“We deeply appreciate our fans who have stood by us and our passionate crew who made this all possible. The work speaks for itself, but it’s the heart that will endure,” stated co-showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman ahead of the Season 2 debut.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY was the. recipient of the 2023 TCA Award nomination for “Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming”, as well as a nomination for a Children’s and Family Emmy Award in 2022. Production designer Alessandro Taini won the award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation that same year.

STAR TREK: PRODIGY is brought by CBS’ Eye Animation Productions, CBS Studios’ animation arm; Nickelodeon Animation; Secret Hideout; and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth are executive producers on the project, along with showrunners Kevin and Dan Hageman. Ben Hibon is the director, executive producer, and works as an artistic lead. Aaron Waltke and Patrick Krebs are also executive producers. Th project is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The STAR TREK: PRODIGY voice talent features Kate Mulgrew (Hologram Kathryn Janeway), Brett Gray (Dal), Ella Purnell (Gwyn), Rylee Alazraqui (Rok-Tahk), Angus Imrie (Zero), Jason Mantzoukas (Jankom Pog), Dee Bradley Baker (Murf), John Noble (The Diviner) and Jimmi Simpson (Drednok).

Recurring cast members for the upcoming second season include Robert Beltran (Captain Chakotay), Robert Picardo (The Doctor), Jason Alexander (Doctor Noum), Daveed Diggs (Commander Tysess), Jameela Jamil (Ensign Asencia), Ronny Cox (Admiral Jellico) and Michaela Dietz (Maj’el).

STAR TREK: PRODIGY will be available on Netflix worldwide (except for in Canada, Nordics, CEE, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Russia, Belarus, and Mainland China), and can be seen on SkyShowtime in the Nordics, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Central and Eastern Europe.
