This week, Apple TV+ announced the upcoming premiere of WondLa from Skydance Animation. This highly-anticipated project is based on the New York Times bestselling book series “The Search for Wondla” by Tony DiTerlizzi. Bobs Gannaway serves as the showrunner and executive producer, and the cast features an amazing voice cast for the seven-episode season. It will premiere worldwide on Friday, June 28th on Apple TV+.
WondLa follows the story of Eva (Jeanine Mason): a curious and passionate teen from a state-of-the-art underground bunker facility. She is being raised by Murthr, a robot (Teri Hatcher) when her bunker is attacked on her 16th birthday. Forced to move to the surface of the Earth, the planet is now home to aliens and called “Orbana”. Eva befriends a loving water bear named Otto (Brad Garrett) and Rovender (Gary Anthony Williams), an alien with a difficult past. She leads the group on a journey to find other humans and reach her destiny.
Other voice talents include Chiké Okonkwo (“The Birth of a Nation,” “La Brea”) as Besteel, the greatest hunter on the planet, D.C. Douglas (“Sharknado 2: The Second One,” “Black Ops”) as Dynasty Corporation’s sentient hand-held tool given to all human beings when they turn six, and Alan Tudyk (“Resident Alien”) as Cadmus Pryde, the creator of Dynastes Corporation.
The adventure series begins with an exciting seven-episode first season, with DiTerlizzi and Gannaway as executive producers. Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Jeremy Bell, Julie Kane-Ritsch, and Skydance Animation’s John Lasseter, David Ellison, and Dana Gold also serve as executive producers on the project, while Tony Cosanella is a producer.
Available on Apple TV+ Friday, June 28th.
