
This past weekend at AnimeJapan 2025, Tokyo, Toho Co., Ltd. treated fans to a brand new trailer and key art along with the official confirmation of the highly anticipated My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON. The series’ eighth season will debut on Crunchyroll this October, streaming globally except in Asia. Episodes will air weekly following the same schedule as Japan.
Originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, the manga from Kohei Horikoshi concluded in August, 2024, and its anime adaptation My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON is on track to do the same. The last chapters of the fan-favorite series has been directed by Naomi Nakayama, who worked on the season prior. Having contributed to the series from the start, Yosuke Kuroda returned to write the series composition. Other industry names who’ve seen the series to its completion include Chief Director Kenji Nagasaki and Character Designers Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima. Music has been composed by Yuki Hayashi, with animation produced by Studio Bones, renowned for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Soul Eater, and more.
Synopsis
While 80% of the population has their own unique superpower, Izuku Midoriya was not born as lucky. Bullied and outcasted, he still dreams to be accepted into the top heroing school in all of Japan, even asking the #1 hero in a chance encounter, “Can I be a hero even without a Quirk?” But unfortunately, Japan’s greatest hero All Might dismisses him, for without a Quirk, Izuku couldn’t save anyone. That is, until he does just that minutes later, stepping up and risking his life when the accredited heroes wouldn’t. With this once-in-a-lifetime chance to prove himself as All Might’s successor, Izuku enters UA and trains with his classmates to rise as the next generation of heroes.
