Humanity’s desperate battle to reclaim the Earth from Godzilla continues. The key to defeating the King of the Monsters may be Mechagodzilla, a robotic weapon thought to have been lost nearly 20,000 years ago.
Part 2 of the new anime Godzilla trilogy from Toho (and destined for Netflix here in the US). Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle opens theatrically in Japan today. The film, a combination of hand drawn and CG, is directed by Kōbun Shizuno (Detective Conan) and Hiroyuki Seshita (Ajin) and animated at Polygon Pictures (Transformers Prime). Take a look:
This is the second entry in a trilogy of new anime Godzilla films from TOHO Animation and Polygon, with the first entry, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (2017), released theatrically in Japan on November 7th, 2017 and worldwide to Netflix exactly two months later. The yet-untitled third entry is planned to be released to theaters in Japan later in 2018.
