This week, the Tribeca Film Festival revealed the titles selected for its 2024 festival lineup, which begins June 5th. MARS, an animated feature from The Whitest Kids U’ Know, has been officially designated as a part of the festival’s Midnight section. The animated film will have its world debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on Thursday, June 6th, with more screenings to follow on June 8th and June 15th.
The first glimpse of MARS was released this week and is included below, showing a motley crew of dauntless voyagers as they journey to the planet that this feature is named after.
Directed by Sevan Najarian, MARS features the incredible adventures and mishaps of Kyle: a man who has his life all planned out before him. Engaged to his fiancée, Candace, he makes a living as a dentist, knows he will one day have a family, and his life is totally laid out for him … and that frightens him. When he comes across an advertisement one night for a billionaire’s contest to travel to Mars, Kyle sends in a video submission. He is surprised to find out he won the contest. The date of the journey falls on the same day as his wedding, leading him to bail on his big day and leave for the Red Planet. This should all be very exciting for Kyle, except the luxury accommodations advertised were a scam, the other people going to space are insane, and they all get stranded on Mars.
MARS is written by and stars Trevor Moore, Zach Cregger and Sam Brown. It’s produced by Sevan Najaraian, Trevor Moore, Zach Cregger, Sam Brown and Kara Welker. Timmy Williams, Darren Trumeter, Kara Welker and Aimee Carlson are executive producers.
