AnimEigo founder and writer Justin Sevakis presented sneak peeks and more at Otakun 2025 for some of the company’s upcoming 2025 and 2026 releases. Among these titles are the Black Jack OVA series, Sasuke, Alien Nine, Looking for the Full Moon and Hotori: Simply Wishing for Hope. The anime enthusiast also featured The Anime Business, a documentary series interviewing visionaries of the Western anime industry.

Sasuke 

For the first time ever, the historic anime from 1968, Sasuke will become available to North America in a complete set. The collection features a restoration of the series made from original film materials, with new subtitles and an English dub making its first appearance. Directed by Sanpei Shirato, known for Legend of Kamui, all 29 episodes will be released in HD Blu-ray in a 3-disc set via AnimEigo on October 14th.

Looking for the Full Moon Vol. 2

Previously thought to be lost, the second half of Looking for the Full Moon Vol. 2 (episodes 27-52) has received an HD remaster as part of its AnimEigo Blu-ray release set for November 11th. This anime adaptation of the fan favorite shojo manga by Arina Tanemura will include the original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles as well as an English dub.

Black Jack OVA

The classic 1973 manga following the titular doctor Black Jack makes its appearance once more, as a 12-episode OVA 2-disc set from AnimEigo debuting December 16th. The brilliant doctor’s adventures in curing all in need, no matter the injury or illness, continue to the modern age.

Alien Nine 

The 1998 manga Alien Nine returns to Earth in OVA form for 2026 release, directed by the same talent behind Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Alien Nine follows Yuri Otani, Kumi Kawamura, and Kasumi Tomine, elementary schoolers on the “Anti-Alien Team.” Due to their responsibility, the three girls must be ready to fight against the alien invasion. The upcoming release will offer episodes in HD in addition to Japanese dialogue with English subtitles and the English dub.
