The Youtube cartoon series God’s Gang recently held an invite-only press conference live-streamed for fans’ viewing, where a private screening of Episode 6: “Epic Showdown Of ight And Darkness” was the focus of a Q & A between journalists and some of the God’s Gang creative team. This live-stream on Tuesday, April 8th, was immediately followed by said season finale’s official release on April 9th.
The Q & A post-show event featured the experienced and award-winning head writer Rob Kutner, who had written for The Tonight Show before 2010 and then for cartoons like Teen Titans Go!, Ben 10, and more. Director Ehud Landsberg, most well-known for his work in Transformers: Cyberverse and Vampirina, joined God’s Gang creator Nimrod Avraham May in attendance. As a part celebration of autistic representation for World Autism Month, the known advocate and autistic journalist Laura Amy Williams shared her excitement with God’s Gang creator May for the show’s autistic talent and open acceptance of neurodiversity.
God’s Gang has not only partnered with the non-profit Autism in Entertainment since last year’s World Autism Month, but also Spectrum Laboratory, with two of the voice actors being the neurodivergent actor Atticus Baldwin, and Cathy McAuley, the head of Spectrum Laboratory’s voiceover training department. The spiritual cartoon’s partnership brought over both actors, God’s Gang promo announcer Tyler Berman, and Spectrum Laboratory’s sound engineering division together on the cartoon series.
With 1.65 million YouTube subscribers, the cartoon series aimed at children and teenagers emphasizes acceptance of anyone’s religion and background. Its unique and unusual cast of religious superheroes, NinJew, TaeKwanHindu, SuMuslim, ChrisCross, and the latest story arc addition KungFuDa, band together in each episode to protect the innocent and face the Corpo Creeps and their absurd yet evil schemes. Although the series’ religious focus has been divisive, more and more fans have believed the series respectful of the religions it depicts, thanks to the God’s Gang “Interfaith Council” of pastors, specialists, and experts guiding their team.
