DreamWorks Animation has released a new trailer for the studio’s upcoming feature, The Wild Robot. Based on Peter Brown’s #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot is an epic story of “a bond like no other”.
The film features ROZZUM unit 7134, called “Roz” for short. Abandoned on an uninhabited island, Roz must adapt to the harsh environment of her surroundings- this leads her to slowly get to know the animals on the island and become the adoptive parent of an orphan gosling.
The Wild Robot has an all-star cast, including Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, The Black Panther franchise) as Roz the robot; Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as Fink the fox; Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Best in Show) as Pinktail the opossum; Oscar® nominee Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as Longneck the goose; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as Brightbill the gosling and Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot that will cross paths with Roz’s island life.
Emmy-winning pop-culture icon Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise, The Boy and the Heron) is also featured in the film, as well as Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, The SpongeBob Movie franchise) and Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films, Pulp Fiction).
A moving story that explores themes of self-discovery and the exciting connection between technology and nature, this powerful film examines what it means to be alive. Written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders (How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Disney’s Lilo & Stitch) and produced by Jeff Hermann (The Boss Baby 2: Family Business, Kung Fu Panda franchise), The Wild Robot is an adaptation of Peter’s Brown’s illustrated novel. In 2016, the book became a smash hit, inspiring a trilogy and earning countless awards.
Coming to theaters on September 27th.
